Well I'm back... geez. Brandon told me to keep this blog going and I didn't. But, I'm back.
I made the glass the these rings months ago and finally figured out how to put them together in a unique way with wire. Michelle is my quality control person. Looks like they're holding up well.
I'm off to Greece but will be back.

Silk and Steel is my specialty.
For many years now I've combined my hand painted silk with steel cut in organic shapes and woven with the silk, or used as the framework for hanging pieces on the wall.

Talisman jewelry
The first blessed talisman was actually a necklace. These shells were gathered by my daughter Michelle. I designed this piece with her input; it includes pearls with glass and stone beads.

Talisman
In meandering a beach in Mexico, I found some shells (worm casings, I'm told) that have become special to me - each time I find one I feel blessed. I decided to make a talisman for young man of whom I'm fond who is a Marine leaving for Afghanistan soon. In constructing it, I began empathizing with his mother. So the process morphed into two talismans - a small one for the Marine to carry and one for his mother. Hers is meant to hang in a window to catch her eye for sending off blessings to him. The creative process was filled with positive protective energy.
